Recently I hired a small local contractor for a little job that needed to be done quickly.  I found a new contractor through an online referral source and was pleasantly surprised at how quickly they re-arranged their schedule to help me.  They did a wonderful job and were considerate and conscientious while working.  Needless to say, I was a happy customer and will call them again.

A day later they asked me to post a recommendation which I did with pleasure.  Even though they knew I was a happy customer, this small local company knew that I could be even more important and profitable.  Their simple request converted me into an ambassador, instantly increasing their potential profitability from my little project by delivering more business through my endorsement.

When was the last time you asked your customers to be your ambassadors?  It doesn’t have to be difficult or time-consuming.  If you’ve done your job well and treated your customers nicely, a simple request for a recommendation or referral will create an army of profit-generating ambassadors.
